Stellar track and field athlete at New Britain High School, the University of Connecticut, and in AAU Competition.....set records in the hammer, shot put and 28-lb. weight throw at NBHS, and in the shot put, hammer and 35-lb. weight throw at UConn.....also three-time NCAA Division I All-American with the Huskies......Outstanding Senior Athlete-of-the-Year, 1972.....three-time All-New England and Yankee Conference.....AAU All-American, 56-lb. weight throw, 1974, 1975 and 35-lb. weight throw 1975, 1976.....Penn Relays Open division Hammer Champion, 1974; won Melrose Games 35-lb. weight throw, 1975.....invited to be a member of the U.S. AAU team vs. Russia, 1976.
