Went from the sandlots of New Britain to be a Major League baseball player from 1913 to 1923 with the Boston Braves, Cincinnati Reds, New York giants and Philadelphia A's..... played shortstop for the Reds in eight-game World Series win over the Chicago White Sox in 1919 which went on to be known as the "Black Sox Scandal" when it was established that a number of ChiSox players had fixed games.....Bill Kopf posted a .249 batting average as a major leaguer.....he died in 1986.
