Don "Red" Wallace
Outstanding football player at both New Britain High School and Boston University.....at NBHS starred at both fullback and linebacker.....was member of 8-1 1945 state championship football team.....and was on 3 teams, l945, l946 and l947 which combined for a 21-6 record.....was also a standout basketball player at forward.....fine football career at B.U. was followed by selection by the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles but was called to U.S. Army duty during Korean War and played for Bolling Air Force base team.....became one of the country's premier racquetball players, and teamed with Bob Yellin of Hartford to win national doubles championship.....died in 2002.
