Ed Cody
What began as football stardom at New Britain High School for Ed Cody went on to even greater heights.....the NBHS All-State fullback (1941) was a standout back for Purdue University, in fact, was the Boilermakers leading scorer and rusher in 1944.....moving up even more, he played for both the Green Bay Packers, and Chicago Bears in the National Football League, and also served as a coach for the Bears.....never far from football, he later was Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Santa Barbara State in California.....was inducted into the New Britain Sports Hall of Fame in 1996.
