Henry "Doc" Ferony
A gifted basketball player in the pre and post World War II eras; he was a 1935 graduate of New Britain High School. A three-year starter, he was the leading scorer and captain of the "Chick" Shea coached quintet at NBHS.
He earned a basketball scholarship to the University of Kentucky.
"Doc" was voted MVP of the Fafnir Bearing team in the famed New Britain Industrial League in 1937. He was also the leading scorer for the 1937 Connecticut State League Championship Cremos team.
"Doc" later served his city as a member of the New Britain Parks and Recreation Commission for many years.
"Doc" Ferony passed away in 2003.
