Mark Riemer
Even New Britain High School with its storied history has produced only a relative handful of two sport All-State players and Mark Riemer is one of them. He earned All-State honors in both football and baseball.
At Eastern Connecticut his baseball career produced several records that are still on the books nearly three decades later and may never be equaled.
A starter on four 30-game winning teams in a row at Eastern, he was the first position player from a New England Div. III college to earn first-team NCAA All-American honors. Eastern enshrined him in its Hall of Fame in 1996.
At NBHS Mark helped win a baseball state championship and in football was a defensive standout who probably blocked more punts than any player in school history.
