Tony "Skip" Stawarz
One of the greatest running backs in New Britain High School's vaunted football history.....All-Stater in both 1964 and 1965, one of only five NBHS players to gain such a back to back tribute.....set Golden Hurricanes' records, 256 points in three seasons, 1963, 1964 and 1965; 230 points in two seasons, 1964 and 1965, and career touchdowns, 40 in 1963, 1964 and 1965 combined.....led 1964 'Canes to 7-0-1 record and No. 1 ranking in one final state championship poll.....also played baseball and basketball.....went on to be All-American Second Team defensive back at Miami University.....selected by Oakland Raiders; knee injury ended likely NFL career.
